Meet Katie

I’m a writer and content marketer with nearly a decade of experience helping social impact organizations tell their stories and reach business goals.

In other words, I help companies help others.

I believe in a world where everyone takes care of themselves and each other, and I’m passionate about using my talents in writing, editing, content strategy, and digital marketing to make the world a better place.

Right now, I’m a Content Strategist at Two Chairs, a mental health startup focused on making exceptional mental health care accessible to all.

Previously, I managed marketing and communications for BSR, a global business consultancy dedicated to sustainability.

I led strategy and implementation across digital platforms, including email, newsletters, video, and marketing automation, and was responsible for developing and elevating BSR’s narrative across channels. Through content marketing, project management, and copywriting, I collaborated with cross-functional teams to engage key audiences and amplify visibility of BSR’s thought leadership, collaborations, and impact.

Prior to joining BSR, I worked for a boutique communications firm that helps San Francisco Bay Area government agencies, nonprofits, and companies connect and engage with their stakeholders. There, I implemented a range of communications, marketing, public outreach, and social media projects. I have also held several internship positions in the sustainable business and government sectors and I wrote for the campus newspaper's food blog at UC Davis.

ABOUT “WARMLY, KATIE”

I’m among the many whose life changed when they first heard Brené Brown encourage us all to embrace vulnerability to become the most authentic, courageous, and whole-hearted versions of ourselves, so I’m doing that—on the internet.

My whole life, I’ve been on the sensitive side and have always felt my emotions and processed my thoughts deep down in my rich inner world, something I was only recently able to name. I’ve always craved deep connections over casual acquaintances, and I’ve found that being vulnerable and sharing my experiences with friends has helped forge and strengthen those connections. I feel drawn to shows like The Good Place, which touch on exactly what it means to be human: a little messy, a little magical, a little dumb, and a little sad. And so many of my conversations with friends and strangers alike end up falling on these topics.

Writing is therapy for me. Mulling over all these thoughts in my head can be exhausting, but getting them out on paper centers me. So the Warmly, Katie newsletter is partly for me, and partly for you—it’s not my diary (I’m not that courageous), but my hope is that my conceivably coherent scribbles about my inner thoughts and life experiences can help someone feel less alone; can help others think, Hey, me too!, get in touch with themselves and know that, in one way or another, we are all connected to each other.

Warmly, Katie comes out the first week of every month.
